Introduction to Eco Dyeing - Margy Alexander

Learn to dye fabric using nature’s palette and simple tools from your kitchen

Explore the natural art of eco dyeing using local plants and common household ingredients. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of extracting colour and creating organic patterns on fabric through simple, sustainable techniques.

We’ll work with wool blanket and cotton sheet fabrics, and each participant will leave with a beautifully dyed, practical one-metre piece of each.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

Margy Alexander relishes the challenge of textile repair and restoration—fortifying fabric with stitch, adding colour through eco-dyeing, and marking cloth with the beauty of plant materials. Her workshops embrace a ‘can do’ attitude, where individual creativity is encouraged and nurtured. Margy is passionate about sharing her knowledge, advocating for sustainable practices, and guiding participants in developing a strong foundation in essential textile techniques.
