2025 Queensland Kendo Winter Seminar - EVENT REGISTRATION
Event description
Queensland Kendo Renmei invites you to the Queensland Kendo Winter Seminar on the Gold Coast. All current AKR members (and FIK affiliate members) are welcome!
Date: Sat 5th and Sunday 6th July 2025
Location: Gold Coast Recreation Precinct (cheap accommodation, lunchbox on registration or café are available onsite). Also known as Tallebudgera Sport and Recreation Centre.
Lead instructors for the seminar:
Iaido:
- Toshiaki Tsukadaira Sensei - Iaido Kyoshi 7 dan
Kendo:
- Katsumi Kuramochi Sensei – Kendo Kyoshi 7 Dan
- Ken Okamoto Sensei – Kendo Renshi 7 Dan
Jodo:
- David Kholb Sensei - Jodo 5 Dan
Seminar planning is under way with the relevant appointed instructors, and it is hoped that we can issue a schedule with a few weeks.
Attendance Fees:
$65.00 for both days (Seminar fees only). Discount applies for juniors, students, families of 3 or more participants.
IMPORTANT! You must be a paid 2025-2026 member of the Queensland Kendo Renmei to participate in this event.
Grading
A grading will also be held on Sunday afternoon July 6. This is open to current financial members of the AKR.
To be eligible you must meet the time-in-grade and minimum qualifications for the grade you are attempting.
We are planning to hold grading examination as per the below:
- Kendo from Kendo 3 Kyu to Yondan
- Iaido from 3 Kyu to Yondan
- Jodo - No grading due to lack of panel members.
Dan examination questions will be posted on the QKR Website shortly.
Closing date for receiving grading applications is the 22 June 2025.
Grading examination applications are to be made using the online grading form Grading Form and payment made via Humanitix grading registration.
Venue Access - Gold Coast Recreation Precinct (Tallebudgera Sport and Recreation Centre), 1525 Gold Coast Hwy Palm Beach, QLD 4221.
Parking is limited - ensure you give yourself plenty of time to find suitable parking.
