Etching Course #2 Aquatint & Sugar-lift
Description
This course explores intaglio printmaking to create tonal imagery.
Learn how to draw directly onto a copper plate to create painterly marks, while developing the skills to use aquatint, sugar-lift, and open bite techniques. These techniques are perfect for artists who enjoy the freedom of using a brush.
Experimenting with ways of drawing and printing the plates to produce rich, tonal images, this course is a great way to build on the skills acquired in Etching #1 (although this is not a prerequisite to enrolment in Etching #2). The course will cover plate preparation, mark-making with sugar-lift and the application of aquatint, along with paper preparation, registration techniques and the correct use of an etching press to print your own original prints.
