Focussing: The Truth within

Building on Session 1 We will return to “The Work” of Byron Katie and be lead by Angela Nicholson through the practice of “Focusing" to discover the truth within

Focusing is a body-oriented process of self-awareness and healing developed by American philosopher and psychologist Eugene Gendlin in the 1960s. It emerged from his research at the University of Chicago, where he discovered something remarkable: people who made lasting changes in therapy weren't necessarily those with the most insight or analysis—they were the ones who knew how to connect with a felt sense of their experience.

That discovery led to the creation of Focusing: a teachable, practical method that helps you tune into the body’s quiet wisdom—noticing subtle, often wordless sensations that carry deep emotional meaning.

Through guided practice, reflection, you’ll learn how to:

Pause and tune into your inner experience with kindness
Recognise the body’s quiet signals that point to what’s really going on
Stay present with emotions without being overwhelmed
Let meaning and insight unfold naturally—without force or overthinking

This is not a technique for solving problems quickly, but a process of befriending yourself, finding language for what’s true, and allowing clarity to arise from within.
