Family Mystic, Micaela Kingslight & Friends, Workshop by Lux Gypsum and Bex Lipps @ FREMONT ABBEY
Event description
Family Mystic: www.familymystic.com
"Family Mystic is more than just a band; they are a transformative experience that redefines healing through song, dance, and emotional connection. Based out of Portland, OR, this collective of four visionary songwriters blends elements of classic funk/soul, 60’s/70’s psychedelia, a splash of progressive jazz fusion, with angelic four-part vocal harmonies, innovating a genre-defying experience that calls listeners into the heart of being human through the sanctity and celebration of music.
Marcelo’s distinctive guitar riffs create a container of solace and joy, paired with Ian Love’s ethereal falsetto that stirs a deep well of emotions. The rhythmic foundation is anchored by brothers Matthew and Tommy Serino, whose life-long bond energizes every performance. The result of these brothers thoughtfully expressing their craft with aligned intentions, invites listeners to feel belonging in the music itself.
With multiple successful West Coast tours under their belt, Family Mystic has shared stages with renowned acts like Holly Bowling, Yaima, Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Mose, MaMuse, Diggin Dirt, March Fourth Marching Band, Elias Alexander (Ramblxr), Kendall Street Company, and Pink Talking Fish. They’ve made a significant impact on the festival and venue circuit in the PNW—from regularly drawing crowds of 2-300 people at well known and loved stages to their renowned pop up shows in parks and public spaces. They find themselves cultivating a vibrant community of music lovers, mystics, pranksters, and families from all walks of life.
Their musical journey is just beginning. With two studio albums—Home in Your Heart (2021) and Adventures of Nemara (2022)—and six live albums, they are continuously evolving, embracing the unfolding of their path during this time of profound change. They are weaving the magic that dwells within us all, creating unforgettable moments that resonate with audiences long after the music ends.
They are prepared to diligently do the work necessary to bring the music to the people, and create their path through integrity." - Artist Bio
Micaela Kingslight & Friends: www.micaelakingslight.com
"Micaela Kingslight is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, lifelong music-educator and intuitive somatic bodyworker. Micaela began playing violin and piano at age 3, recorded her first track at age 5, and began teaching music at 15. A truly protean talent, Micaela is equally comfortable with the funky and folksy as well as ultra-hard rock and blues! As lead electric guitarist and songwriter in her group Flypaper, Micaela opened up for internationally touring bands like Primus, The Dresden Dolls, and B.B King, while as a studio musician in Detroit she cut her guitar and vocal chops playing funk and R&B alongside members of Motown staples like the Temptations, The Drifters, and The Supremes.
Most recently, Micaela has gained acclaim singing intricate three-part harmonies with the folk/medicine supergroup Three Wheels Turning alongside her collaborators Samara Jade and Aimee Ringle. Her own music combines all of these diverse influences into an eclectic global synthesis incorporating classical guitar, mandolin, harp, and South American Medicine music." - Artist Bio
