4 Steps for a Resilient Life for EPE TIG Members and Friends
Event description
EPE TIG members and friends are invited to join Sami Aaron, founder and executive director of The Resilient Activist, for a heartwarming lunch and learn to explore resilience skills to reduce environmental overwhelm and burnout.
In this workshop, participants will refocus, reframe, and reboot their activism and practice to discover ways to bring joy into their advocacy work.
Agenda
Noon - Gather at the Kansas City Convention Center at noon to ride-share. Meet at the AEA Hub near registration in Lobby 2300 of the Convention Center.
12:30 - Arrive at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center
12:30 - 12:45 Light snacks and introductions
12:45 - 1:45 Mindfulness practices - burnout concerns - 4 Steps for a Resilient Life Workshop - healing benefits of time spent in nature - resilience tools
1:45 - 2:45 Lunch & conversation - "How can evaluation, learning, and data support resilience-building efforts, especially at the intersection of the environment and mental health?"
2:45 - 3:00 return to the KC Convention Center
Cost
This event is offered at no cost to participants; however, an optional box lunch from Enjoy® Pure Food + Drink is available for pre-payment when you register for this event.
NOTE: Meal prices include sales tax, $1.00 coordinating surcharge, and credit card fee: 3.9% + $1.29 per charge. Food orders MUST be placed by noon on Wednesday, 11/12.
If you're financially able, donations can be made to The Resilient Activist as a speaker's honorarium.
The Venue
The Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center, located near the Country Club Plaza in Midtown, is a haven for nature enthusiasts and those seeking to learn about wildlife conservation.
The Center offers eight acres of natural areas with short paved and natural trails through forest, woodland, wetland, and prairie habitats. The area has demonstration beds which showcase the wildlife benefits of growing native plants.
