    Event description

6pm Speakeasy @ Austin Club: a spoken word event in the heart of ÅŒtautahi's CBD.

Coming at you live with a fresh new feature, last Thursday of every month.

MCed by Jor Dansaren and generously hosted by Austin Club Basement Bar - 161 Cashel Street, Christchurch.

As part of Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day on Friday 23 August 2024, we present a very special edition of 6pm Speakeasy - Poetry Swap Edition!

To coincide with the 23rd of August, this edition will run on a Friday instead of the usual Thursday - but at the same great venue!

The event will commence at 6pm, however we recommend you arrive earlier than this to get your poems in for swaps.

This event is FREE to enter, however reservations are essential! To book your place, please select "reservation" below and enter your details as usual. Reservations must be made via Humanitix.

Donations also gratefully accepted if you are able to contribute to keeping the event running in future.

How does a Poetry Swap work? This is a full-length open mic session, with a twist! Bring your favourite poem along - whether by yourself, or another poet - and prepare to swap with someone else to read on the open mic!

Please print your poem out for easy swaps.

if you forget to print, be prepared to collaborate to send your poem to someone else on their device.

Participants' poems will be numbered and randomly allocated to other participants to read. This is a great opportunity to have fun reading someone else's piece, without the pressure of producing it yourself. Get familiar with other styles of work, and make poetic connections along the way.

If you have any queries about the running of the event, please contact Jor Dansaren via Facebook..

Head on down and Speakeasy on Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day 2024 with us!
