Come celebrate the 8th annual DAY OF THE DEAD proudly organised by the Latin American Cultural Association of Tasmania (LACAT). Supported by the City of Hobart and the Multicultural Council of Tasmania

Noche de Muertos 6pm - late

Enjoy live music and immerse yourself in an age-old tradition that calls on each of us to remember our loved ones who have passed with joy and celbrations.

The Day of the Dead is a Mesoamerican tradition that dates back to pre-colonial times and celebrates the life of the dead for one day each year. We encourage you to bring photos of your loved ones who have passed to place on the altar and to dress up as the well-known Catrin(a) (optional). We'll have a traditional ofrenda inviting the dead, live music, face painting, food stalls (more this year), stilt walkers and roving dancers.

Live music from 6pm showcasing mainland and local talent!

THE LONE MARIACHI & SILVER MASKED MEN - Original Mexican music, Mexican classics played my Mexicans in a mexican style all the way from Melbourne!

And of course our own local Latin legends joining us are:

SON DEL SUR - 12 piece local Salsa and Latin Jazz ensemble guaranteed to offer up opportunities for a twirl

BERIMBAU - Big Brazilian beats from Samba to Bossa to Afro and Forro! An amazing group of musicians each bring a slice of fruit to this tropical fruit salad of sound.

YACURUNA - A celebration of Latin American folk, Boleros, Cumbias, Bossa and more

XIXA - Tasmanian Cumbia big band performing cumbia bangers and a cheeky power balad with a mission to ignite an irresistible dance frenzy in every soul.

SACA LA MOIS DJ!! (a.k.a. Moses Iten) Cumbia and Bass specialist, playing tropical music from his vast crates of vinyl and digital dubplates
