A Day With James Joyce: "Dubliners"
Event description
There are two types of people: those who've read Ulysses, and those who haven't... yet!
Bloomsday in Melbourne has been introducing readers to Joyce for 30 years. In August and September we present two great opportunities to find out what everyone gets so excited about, in the company of Bloomsday’s Artistic Director Frances Devlin-Glass and Joycean Steve Carey. Both courses are suitable for absolute beginners, as well as for those already familiar with Joyce.
Our first is Joyce's book of short stories, Dubliners, focusing particularly on 'The Dead,' often considered the greatest short story in the English language. This is Joyce at his welcoming: accessible, moving and yet full of riches not easily spotted on first acquaintance. Your James Joyce journey begins here!
