Sun, 23 Mar, 4pm - 7pm NZDT

Event description

Learn to make some yummy dishes, popular in Brazil, then sit down and enjoy them with others!

We will get a taste of Brazil with our host Isabelle Lourenco de Almeida. Originally from the city of Curitiba, State of Parana, in Brazil, Isabelle moved to New Zealand in 2017. She has been living in Ashburton for the past 7 years.

Under Isabelle's guidance, we will make the traditional Brazilian dish Moqueca - a Brazilian fish stew/ curry (gf, df) and rice. For those who don't eat fish, there will be a similar stew/ curry with plantain and/or palm heart instead of fish (gf, df, v).

For dessert we have Brigadeiro, which are delicious fudgy chocolate balls (gf, vt).

Come along and get some new recipe ideas, learn about another country and enjoy a delicious dinner together with others! Limited to 10 people so get in quick.

Please note this month's event is priced differently than usual to cover the cost of the more expensive ingredients required for the fish dish. $18 for vegetarian tickets and $22 for the fish. Note that while the main is vegan the dessert has condensed milk and butter, so not vegan.

(v= vegan, vt= vegetarian, df= dairy free, gf= gluten free)

This event is one in a series of 'A Taste of... ' cooking classes organised & subsidised by Keep Learning Mid Canterbury and the Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network.
