Adults Foundational Art Program-Term 3 (10 weeks)
Description
Adult Foundational Drawing & Painting – Term 3, 2026
Have you always wanted to learn to draw or paint, or reconnect with your creativity but didn't know where to start?
Our Adult Foundational Drawing & Painting class is a welcoming and supportive space designed to help you build practical artistic skills while enjoying the process of creating.
This term we will continue building on the foundations of observational drawing and painting, with a particular focus on portraiture and still life. Participants will develop skills in observation, proportion, light and shadow, composition, colour mixing and painting techniques through a series of guided exercises and creative projects.
Whether you're joining us for the first time or returning from a previous term, the program is designed to meet you exactly where you are — and to be shaped around you as an individual. If there's a particular skill or subject you'd love to focus on, that's absolutely welcome. This is a space centred on your own creative development, not on comparing yourself to others. And while the focus is personal, you won't be working in isolation: one of the most inspiring parts of the class is the sense of creative community that grows around the table each week. No previous art experience is required.
Classes are led by artist and educator Kelly Joy, who trained at the National Art School and brings three decades of professional practice to her teaching. Kelly combines strong classical training with a warm, encouraging style, and her goal is to equip participants with the confidence and techniques to continue creating long after the course has finished.
