Who should attend: Nurses, Coordinators, Care and Support Staff in Aged and Disability services and Carers and interested family members

Are you confident and comfortable having a conversation with the person you support about advanced care planning? Do you know how and when to use advanced care directives?
This course will step you through the importance of advance care planning, use of the person’s directives, legal and ethical considerations.
Course outcomes:
- Understand what an advanced care directive is, who can make one, and what should be included in it
- Recognise the benefits of advanced care directives, to meet standards and legislative requirements
- Know when an advanced care directive comes into effect, who is responsible for carrying out the wishes outlined in it, and why it is important to communicate the existence of an advanced directive
- Case studies exploring ethical, cultural and communication considerations when following advanced care directives

- Not circulate or distribute the weblink or resources to any person or organisation who is not a registered attendee (you will receive an invoice for the extra attendee/s)
- Not show the event in a group setting where unregistered attendees are present (you will either receive an invoice for the extra attendees or be removed and no refund given)
- Not make any recordings or capture the video or audio in any capacity
ACIA reserve the right to:
- Remove unauthorised participants from a session if no response is received by the unauthorised attendee within 10 minutes (by Zoom chat).
- Request all participants to turn on their camera

Notification of cancellation or transfer of registration must be by email to enquiry@acia.asn.au. No refund is available for any cancellations received five working days or less prior to the start date, however a substitute delegate is welcome. Please notify ACIA of any substitution as soon as possible. No refund or transfer will be given for non-attendance.
