Aerials workshop with Sarah & Evan

Aerials are a truly iconic part of Swing Dancing – swing legend Frankie Manning’s eyes would light up when talking about air steps.

In this workshop you’ll learn amazing aerial moves, and how to dance in and out of them. You’ll also get tips on good aerials technique and how to spot and practice safely.

Sarah Wheaton and Evan Hughes are two of Australia’s most celebrated swing dancers and most experienced instructors. Both were previously crowned Hellzapoppin’ Champions, and have performed and competed in Lindy Hop extensively. Sarah & Evan are ideal guides to take you safely on a journey of jumps, flips and tricks.

This workshop is suitable for swing dancers with knowledge of the fundamentals of swing dancing (it will be helpful to know how to do an 8-beat swing out, and be confident with Charleston rhythm.)

Schedule:
10.15am - 12.45pm Session 1 – Beginner Aerials - In this session you’ll learn the fundamentals of flying and a few key lifts.
12.45pm - 1.45pm lunch break
1.45pm - 4.15pm Session 2 – Next Level Aerials - Ready for a high-flying challenge? Looking to expand your aerial repertoire? This session assumes you will be comfortable with basic aerial technique, either in the earlier session or from previous aerial training.
*Please arrive a few minutes before the advertised start time, to check in and be ready to dance at the start of the session.*

Book for either the full workshop, or for only the first session (Beginner aerials).

Pair Passes only (1 Base + 1 Flyer) – you must register with a partner, and we will not change partners throughout the workshop.
