AI Essentials for WA Workplaces
Description
Start using AI at work with structure, not guesswork.
Three focused hours, three working modules, and you leave with a written plan — not just impressions. AI Essentials for WA Workplaces is the entry point to the WA AI Hub training pathway: a practical session built around your actual workday, delivered in plain English by an experienced facilitator.
Who this is for:
WA workers at any level: SME staff, team leaders, administrators, professionals and anyone who wants to move from occasional experimentation to structured, responsible AI use at work. No prior AI experience is required. Capacity is 30 (25 online).
What you will do:
The session runs as three 55-minute modules:
AI in My Workday: Capabilities and Limits sort real workplace tasks into what current AI tools handle well, poorly and not at all, using capability cards drawn from WA workplaces.
Safe Prompts, Safe Data: The Red-Line Rules set your personal red lines for what goes into an AI tool and what stays out, and practise rewriting risky requests into acceptable ones.
Outputs Are Proposals: Verify Before You Act apply a verification routine to AI-drafted text and data summaries so a proposal never gets treated as a fact.
Every module is hands-on: fictional or public data only, worked examples, and time to apply each method to a task from your own week.
What you will leave with:
A personal AI-use plan, a safe-use checklist and your first AI-register entry three artefacts you draft in the room and finish with the take-home workbook.
Prerequisites and exclusions:
None. Bring a laptop if you can; printed no-login worksheets are supplied for anyone without a device or account. This session covers structured individual practice; it does not configure tools for your organisation and it does not provide legal, financial or IT advice.
