AIDN QLD DEFENCE INDUSTRY MICRO-CREDENTIALING PROGRAM
About the Program:
This 4-hour foundation-level program covers patents, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, and registered designs. Participants will learn how to begin protection processes in Australia and internationally, conduct freedom-to operate searches, draft simple claims, and prepare for licensing negotiations. The course balances legal knowledge with commercial reality, ensuring attendees leave with actionable steps to protect and monetise IP.
Course: Protecting Innovation and Intellectual Property Strategy
Session 1: To Protect or Not to Protect - Types of IP, protection methods, speed to market vs secure in market, quantifying the potential market.
Session 2: Patenting in Australia and Beyond - Patent processes, IP searches, critical patent components and surviving patent examination reports.
Session 3: Trademarking in Australia and Beyond - Trademark processes in Australia and Internationally (Madrid Protocol), Classes of Goods and Services, trademark searches and surviving examination reports.
Session 4: Commercialising Your Intellectual Property - Choosing your commercial vehicle, targeting your licensee, setting royalty rates and developing win-win negotiations.
