Drawing the UQ Art Collection

Event description

Connect and unwind with a casual still-life drawing session, where surrounded by art and various found objects, you are prompted to consider how your identities and journeys are shaped through the objects around and within.

As we move throughout life, how do the objects you hold move with you?

You will be drawing inspiration from artworks in the University of Queensland's Art Collection including Hiromi Tango’s “Insanity Magnet #7”, 2009 and Katthy Cavaliere’s “Nest 1”, 2010. These artworks are currently on display as part of I, myself, in-between in the Collection Study Room. Both artists use objects to explore stories of migrations, movements and transitions of identity, place and culture.

This is a free event held in the Alumni Friends of UQ Collection Study Room. Please meet in the foyer ahead of the event start time. Spaces are limited so register today to secure your spot. People of all skill levels welcome! All equipment will be provided.
