An Introduction to Visible Mending Techniques - Patch Method

Event description

Do you often think when you look in your wardrobe - wouldn't it be good to fix some of these things instead of just chucking them away?

Nat Mendham is a Clarence resident and creative with lots of expertise in visible mending. Nat will share the fundamentals of visible mending on denim in this session outlining three ways to mend your loved and worn denim garments. Using visible stitches, participants will learn techniques for repairing clothing, that they can then use on their own clothes at home. The session will cover the basics by making a ‘mend sampler’ that demonstrate various ways to mend.

Join us on this creative and sustainable journey! Gain a new perspective on the importance of repairing and upcycling, as well as the impact our clothing choices have on the environment.

Materials provided, such as a scrap of denim to practice on, patches, needles, and a choice of threads. Feel free to bring your own supplies as well, especially if you have a favourite thimble.

Suitable for those aged 12 and up.
