Analysis. Writing. The iterative process of qualitative data analysis
Event description
“Analysis. Writing. The iterative process of qualitative data analysis”
This session is part of the series: Qualitative Data Analysis at UTS. The aim of this series is to showcase and celebrate the diverse and innovative ways UTS researchers are working with qualitative data, unpack some underlying principles of qualitative data analysis, and explore some qualitative data theoretical frameworks.
This workshop busts the myth that we analyse our qualitative data, finish the analysis, and then write it up. Yes, there is analysis that comes before writing, and writing that comes after analysis. However, there is a lot that is in the entangled space in between! @AdamMGrant said:
We can write to progress our understanding of the data. And sometimes, writing leads us to realise we need to adjust our approach to analysis, or go back to the data. This workshop will explore approaches to writing that might help drive your analysis forward, as well as ways to look at writing to think about analysis and how we communicate it.
Learning outcomes:
- Better understand the iterative relationship between writing and qualitative data analysis
- Discover aspects of your own analysis through writing, and aspects of your writing through analysis
- Boost your confidence as a qualitative researcher who writes!
Other workshops in the series Qualitative Data Analysis at UTS:
- Understanding thematic analysis
- Coding qualitative data
- VIP Dr Paul - details to come
- Working with theory in qualitative analysis
- Using numbers in qualitative research – is it ever OK?
- Analysis. Writing. The iterative process of qualitative data analysis
- Software in qualitative data analysis: how to make it work for you
- Saturation vs. information power in qualitative data analysis
- How to write up your qualitative data analysis
Please note that this session will be delivered face-to-face but with a Zoom option available for those who cannot make it in person. This session will also be recorded and may be uploaded as online training.
