Anja & Floyd are hosting another evening of their favourite songs of love performed with close harmonies and delicate accompaniment from vibraphone, guitar, and double bass. An evening of mesmeric interpretations of masterpieces that evoke deepest feelings, resolve dilemmas and enhance treasured memories. Presenting songs in five languages, we celebrate the work and tell stories of Waits, Priestley, Cave, Martin, just to name a few - remarkable artists who crafted marvelous music from experiences lived, imagined or aspired.
Come and hear the enchanting harmony of voices, versatility of the instrumentalists and colours of unexpected combination. Let us ‘dance you till the end of love’!
Anja & Floyd are Melbourne based artists whose interest in the finest brought them into this vibrant, inspiring project. Folk singer Floyd Thursby has years of songs and stories to share, whether busking in the streets of Iran, playing in nursing homes, or performing for the Prime Minister of Vietnam. From singing French chanson with quartet La Mauvaise Réputation to spearheading the skiffle revival with Skiffle Party, Thursby is fascinated by all styles of music.
Anja enjoys performing a variety of music, be it classical, spiritual, folk, or popular. She is a musical director of Anja & Zlatna, an ensemble that preserves the beauty of traditional music from the Balkans and beyond, enhancing them with the structural architecture of baroque and modern languages. Anja’s love for polyphony and harmonies comes from decades of singing in her church and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
