Event description
Come along for a deep dive into the art of twined basketry! In this workshop, you’ll extend on your previous experience in starting and finishing a twined basket to understand several variations that allow more complex patterning.
This workshop is designed for intermediate or experienced makers looking to practice twining and extend your skills. Rather than creating a finished basket, we’ll experiment with a range of variations to the twining technique.
What you'll learn:
• How to start a basket – three ways
• Two-strand twining stitch – Z and S
• Patterning including lattice twining
• Finishing off – three ways
All materials for the day are provided, including a beautiful selection of natural fibres that have been foraged and prepared for you.
What to bring: Please bring your own lunch. A fridge and microwave are available for your use. Tea, coffee and snacks are provided.
Prerequisites: To enjoy this workshop you must have completed a basket using two-strand twining from start to finish. This could have been achieved at the preceding workshop ‘Make a Mini Twined Basket with Foraged Fibres’ on Saturday 13th December 2025, or equivalent learning.
