Event description

This three day workshop has been designed to support Aboriginal Family Safety Grant Recipients. Incorporating foundational knowledge and Family Domestic and Sexual Violence informed Practice. You will be introduced to the “Dream with Us” Framework – A Framework for addressing Aboriginal Family Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) in community. Reviewing the Framework’s guiding principles and case studies. Through yarning circles and artwork on day three you will have an opportunity to develop localised messaging and resources to raise the awareness of FDSV in your community

Learning Outcomes

  • Foundational knowledge and FDSV informed practice

  • Impacts of perpetrating behaviour patterns

  • Partnering with victim-survivors

  • Explore how culturally grounded approaches can enhance responses to FDSV in Aboriginal communities.

  • Review an ACCO Framework for addressing FDSV in Aboriginal communities, guiding principles to build capacity and practice models that align with cultural values.

About Kyalie Moore

Kyalie Moore, a proud Wadjarri-Yamatji woman. Kyalie is the First Nations Lead for Stopping Family Violence and is a trainer and public speaker who is passionate about building the capacity and capability of Aboriginal Organisations to stamp out Family Violence in our Communities. Kyalie delivers a wide range of trainings and often lends her expertise to consultations and specialist organisations around increasing cultural safety in family, domestic and sexual violence. Kyalie is a Mens Behaviour Change Practitioner and supervisor and has a special interest in integrating the work of Healing and Change (HAC).  

Kyalie has an advanced diploma of Family Therapy and Counselling and a bachelor’s degree of Psychological Science and is an accredited Safe and Together Trainer. Over the past 15 years, Kyalie has taken on a variety of roles in the Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence field — working on the front lines with direct work with perpetrators of family and domestic violence and in management, leadership roles. Areas of practice include workforce development, advocacy, and research. Kyalie works at both state and national levels, supporting communities in the Family and Domestic Violence sector. Kyalie’s passion lies in eradicating violence and coercive controlling behaviours by driving radical changes in community and systemic responses.  This will lead to violence-free homes across all communities. This is the legacy Kyalie wants to leave for her children, grandchildren, and future generations.

About David Batty

David completed his Advanced Diploma as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner in 2000 through the Kimberley School of Health Study (KAMS)

This was follow-up with completing his Advanced Diploma in SEWB/ Mental Health, and with a Diploma in counselling.
David spent 19 years working in the Kimberley Region before relocating to Geraldton in 2019 and worked for the

Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service as the Suicide Prevention Coordinator / Health Promotions coordinator before taking on the role as the We Can Together Men’s Behaviour Change Coordinator. In April 2025 David joined the team at Stopping Family Violence as the First Nations Lead Program Coordinator
