Join Wendy Jagger in the Benalla Botanical Gardens for a day of painting en plein air (in the open air). Drawing on the many botanical specimens and vistas in the surrounding gardens you will learn painting techniques using gouache. Wendy Jagger is an experienced artist and art educator and will tailor her teaching to suit your skill level.

About the artist:

Strongly influenced by the seasonal changes of rugged landscapes and the diversity of native flora, Mansfield artist Wendy Jagger’s paintings and ceramics embody her response to being in, within and of the land, particularly when she is out there plein air painting.

Wendy’s work has been a finalist in numerous national and international art prizes, and is held in private and public collections, including Bendigo Art Gallery, Manningham Gallery, and Holmesglen TAFE. Commissioned pieces for clients include the National Gallery of Victoria, the Victorian State Parliament, Mazda Australia, the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, and Mt Buller RMB.

Wendy has more than 30 years’ experience in art education, and she now shares her practice and knowledge in her classes and workshops. She also opens her studio for the award-winning Mansfield Open Studio Trail, of which she is the founder.

Materials:

All materials are provided. Each participant will be provided with A4 300gsm watercolour paper, brushes, water container, pencil, notes, aprons, and a set of 10 Art Spectrum gouache paints for use on the day.
