2nd Saturday Artist Showcase June: Gerry Luhman
Event description
On the second Saturday of each month we will have one of our local artists in store to demonstrate their artwork. We welcome you to watch, participate and chat.
In June we are hosting Gerry Luhman.
Educated in the US and New Zealand Gerry holds a B. Des Hons Degree and has successfully blended a varied career in design, university teaching, television and movie art directing within an envelope of an industrial design practice. In recent years he has been applying his talents to relief printmaking exhibiting with the Impress Printmakers Studio and The Caboolture Regional Gallery amongst others. He is a member of the Print Council of Australia and recently joined Ceramic Arts Queensland and the Caboolture Historical Village Potters where he is expanding his 3D imagination.
Gerry's current artwork draws inspiration from landscapes visited in his travels around Australia with his wife Nicola. While his watercolours remain delicate and whimsical, his printmaking and ceramic work filter his inspiration through a strong graphic aesthetic.
To quote the artist
"My work is indicative of my love of the sea and the natural world, sometimes interrupted by the creation of crafted artefacts."
