Art Residencies workshop with Eliza Dawson.
Are you a creative practitioner who has dreamed about undertaking an arts residency, but don’t know where to start? Join arts residencies consultant, Eliza Dawson, to learn about the diverse field of arts residencies and get inspired to start your residency journey.
This three hour workshop will answer the following core questions:
- What is an arts residency?
- How do I find the ideal residency for me?
- How do I apply and improve my chances of success?
- How can I make the most of the residency
There are so many scales and models of residencies in all corners of the globe, and often the process of applying for residency opportunities can feel daunting. This workshop will guide creatives through a step by step process and empower participants to pursue both local and international arts residencies as a critical step in their career trajectory.
About Eliza Dawson:
Eliza Dawson is a dynamic leader of arts and cultural organisations locally and internationally. She has 18 years of experience in delivering meaningful and impactful programming and partnerships across the globe in a multi-arts, membership-based and inter-sectorial capacity.
As the outgoing Executive Director of Res Artis: Worldwide Network of Arts Residencies, Eliza led a network of more than 700 arts residencies in 80 countries. She also served on the Board of Directors as Vice-President from 2012 – 2016. Prior to Res Artis, Eliza managed Asialink’s Arts Residency Program – the largest and most long-standing exchange program between Australia and Asia aimed at intercultural understanding, capacity building and professional development.
Eliza has diverse experience in the arts industry, having worked at a range of local and international institutions and organisations including Christie’s auction house in London, The Ian Potter Museum of Art and Artbank. Eliza holds a MA Art Curatorship and BA Creative Arts, both from the University of Melbourne.
This workshop is for adults aged 18+ years old.
