Asia House Corporate Members Briefing with Brian Davidson CMG, His Majesty’s Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao
Event description
As the global economy adjusts to shifting trade dynamics and rising geopolitical tensions, Brian Davidson CMG, His Majesty’s Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao, will deliver an exclusive, off-the-record briefing at Asia House on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.
The UK remains one of Hong Kong’s key European trading partners, while Hong Kong continues to serve as a strategic gateway for UK businesses targeting regional markets. At the same time, shifting US-China trade dynamics are reshaping global supply chains.
Drawing on four decades of diplomatic experience across Asia, Europe and Australia, Davidson will offer an insider’s perspective on how the UK is navigating its relationship with Hong Kong amid global uncertainty. His insights will be informed by his extensive experience in China, including senior roles in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, as well as his prior position as British Ambassador to Thailand.
Davidson has held the post of Consul General to Hong Kong since 2021. His previous UK-based roles include serving in the Cabinet Office as an analyst on international terrorism and as Deputy Chief Executive at International Financial Services London – experience that uniquely positions him to assess the intersection of security, trade, and finance in UK foreign policy.
The session will be moderated by Michael Lawrence OBE, Chief Executive of Asia House. Places are limited, and Asia House corporate members will have priority access.
