Asian Cinema Collective presents: A Better Tomorrow (1986)
Description
Join the Asian Cinema Collective for a special screening of John Woo's A Better Tomorrow (1986) at Chinatown Cinema on Wednesday 9 September!
One of the most influential Hong Kong action films of the heroic bloodshed genre, A Better Tomorrow has been restored in 4K and is ready for the big screen.
Starring icons Chow Yun-fat, Ti Lung and Leslie Cheung, A Better Tomorrow follows the story of two brothers - one a money-laundering gangster, and the other a rookie cop. At the request of their ailing father, the gangster, Ho (Ti Lung), promises to leave the underworld behind after one last job.
When the deal goes wrong, loyalty and brotherhood are tested, friendships are fractured and revenge cannot be avoided. A tight 95 minutes of action, gunfights, honour and survival - A Better Tomorrow has inspired countless filmmakers over the past 40 years.
Spectacular shootouts and even broad comedy are packed into this Woo's fierce 1986 thriller of vengeance and loyalty. The Guardian
