10am Dinosaur Discovery (ECE age) 30-40 minutes
Children and whānau can discover more about dinosaurs through storytelling and hands-on exploration of replica bones.
This programme takes place in the Weird & Wonderful gallery and provides children the opportunity to explore their own interests.
11am Colossal Fossils (Years 1 - 4) 50 minutes
Get hands-on with replica dinosaur bones and observe and identify the characteristics of well-known herbivore and carnivore dinosaur species.
Delving deep into the fossil remains of prehistoric life, learners will discover the processes of palaeontology. Gain a greater appreciation for how dinosaurs have evolved, and how marine and avian reptiles differ.
12.30pm Palaeontology (Years 5-13) 60 minutes
Palaeontologists provide much of the knowledge we have about fossils, dinosaurs and other extinct species. Investigate and explore palaeontology and examine some specimen’s palaeontologists have found. In a hands-on experience, students learn about the process of fossilisation and how these discoveries help fill in the blanks in the evolutionary tree.
