Join us for an inspiring author talk with Ruth Boydell, a sailor, educator, and end-of-life doula. Ruth's life has been shaped by adventure, from sailing across oceans on small boats after high school to teaching sailing and maritime studies in Australia. After a life-changing health challenge, she shifted her focus to supporting others as a death doula.

In her new book Rocking the Boat, Ruth describes her comfortable Sydney home and how she left it at seventeen to seek adventure on the open ocean, embarking on extraordinary voyages that shaped her life. From solo sailing across vast seas to teaching maritime studies, and later becoming a death doula in her sixties, Ruth’s journey is one of courage, resilience, and self-discovery. Through three transformative voyages, Rocking the Boat delves into the challenges, triumphs, and life lessons that defined her path.
