After a life-changing health challenge, she shifted her focus to supporting others as a death doula.

In her new book Rocking the Boat, Ruth describes her comfortable Sydney home and how she left it at seventeen to seek adventure on the open ocean, embarking on extraordinary voyages that shaped her life. From solo sailing across vast seas to teaching maritime studies, and later becoming a death doula in her sixties, Ruth’s journey is one of courage, resilience, and self-discovery.
