    Event description

“It is believed that the soul leaves the body in times of great trauma in an attempt to protect itself.”

BACK TO MY BODY is a dedicated healing event for survivors of sexual, domestic and gendered violence; it is a safe, empowering and supportive space for survivors to connect through the power of community, gentle mind-body activities and a reiki+sound journey to integrate/close the event.

I acknowledge that in Australia, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people are disproportionately affected by sexual and domestic violence ~ tickets are available free of charge for First Nation's people.

Hi, I'm Cassandra. I am a reiki, movement and energy practitioner. I am a survivor. 2016 marked the start of my healing journey after years of abuse. Throughout my recovery, I have personally found energy work to be the most effective and empowering form of healing. (I want to reiterate this is my experience, and everyone should always choose the method that feels right and works best for them.) Reiki and energy work has allowed me to tap into and release pain in a way that feels safe and nourishing, it's given me tools to reconnect with my intuition and a part of me that I thought was lost. I feel free when I do this work, I feel expansive and like I am re-learning the ways my body and soul speak.

I truly believe that we need community right now more than ever, and when we have the space to heal, feel seen and heard, we are empowered in a way that ripples out into the world and creates lasting impactful change.

Survivors voices are VALUABLE and I want to offer this space to you because:

    • the current state of gendered violence in this country is unacceptable and must change - I want to do my part in confirming how important it is to centre victim-survivors right now. Our stories, feelings, opinions and healing MATTER.
    • reiki, somatic work and sound therapy is highly effective in returning the nervous system to a calm state and allows for emotions and stored trauma to be released in a gentle, cathartic and restorative way.
    •  creating spaces specifically for survivors plays a role in removing stigma and ignites important conversations.
    • connecting and being in community aids in overall wellbeing and provides opportunity to amplify your voice, if you are ready to do so.

    Our afternoon will look like:

1pm: arrival, welcome circle, introductions, sharing is always optional if you prefer to not disclose

1:30pm: mind-body activities, mixture of guided meditation, creative writing, gentle movement, grounding practices

3:00pm: reiki+sound journey ~ get comfy and drift away, a deeply nourishing and relaxing soundscape will play while reiki healing is used to clear energetic blockages and create harmony within the body. (I will always ask for your consent before we commence to check if you prefer to not be touched during the session.)

    4:15pm: closing circle

We have the beautiful Active Wellness Studio @ PHIVE Parramatta as our space.
