Going for Broke: Ballarat Screening Event & Forum on Gambling Harm in Community Sport

Great sporting clubs do more than bring people together on game day.

They help create healthy, connected and supportive communities where everyone can thrive.

Join us for a free community event exploring how we can strengthen the wellbeing of our sporting

communities by understanding and preventing gambling harm.

The evening will feature selected clips from the ABC iView documentary series Going for Broke,

followed by a facilitated discussion with people who have lived experience of gambling harm,

local service providers and community leaders.

Attendees will:

• Watch highlights from ABC's Going for Broke documentary series.

• Hear powerful perspectives from people with lived experience of gambling harm.

• Learn how gambling harm can affect individuals, families, sporting clubs and communities.

• Explore practical ways clubs, volunteers and community members can promote health, wellbeing and safer environments.

• Discover local support services and resources to share within their networks.

• Learn about initiatives such as Love the Game and how sport can be part of the solution.

This event is a lead-in to Gambling Harm Awareness Week and provides an opportunity for local

sporting clubs and community members to come together, start important conversations,

and explore how we can protect what matters most: the health, connections and future of our communities.

Catering provided, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Everyone is welcome. We particularly encourage sporting club leaders, coaches, players,

volunteers, committee members, community leaders, educators, service providers and anyone who

wants to help build stronger, healthier and more resilient communities.
