BDEF, Bristol Mind and First Bus : Hate Crime Awareness on First Buses (North Bristol)
Event description
BDEF (Bristol Disability Equality Forum) and Bristol Mind are working with First Bus Bristol to host this session in North Bristol which will be looking to...
Raise awareness of what Hate Crime and Discrimination is and how to report it
Learn about what BDEF and Bristol Mind's communities have reported about incidents of Hate Crime and Discrimination which have happened on local transport and specifically on buses
Hear from First Bus about how they train their bus drivers to respond to incidents of Hate Crime and Discrimination and what First Bus drivers are supposed to do
Have a Q&A session between community members and First Bus where community members can ask questions of First Bus about how they are trained and respond to incidents of Hate Crime and Discrimination
Who can be involved
This meeting is open to all who are interested in this topic. We especially want to hear from our Disabled people community in Bristol.
We will be hosting this session on a First Bus, at the Vassall Road bus stop outside Vassall Centre.
Due to accessibility restrictions on First Buses (and particularly the new electric buses which have reduced the number of wheelchair spaces - a topic we are already discussing with First Bus) we will only be using the ground level of the bus and there will only be maximum two wheelchair accessible spots. There will also be seats on the ground level which will require you to go up one step if wanting to sit at the back. Please let us know whether you will need a wheelchair space so we can allocate spaces appropriately. Tickets will be first come, first served.
Access information
Nearby, there is the Vassall Centre which will have accessible toilets to be used if needed and which has a cafe if any refreshments are wanted.
For travel to the Vassall Road bus stop, buses number 47 and 47x stop at it. There is permit free parking around the area.
Drop us an email at info@bristoldef.org.uk or give us a call on (0117) 914 0528 if you have any questions.
