Event description

Beginner-bots - July School holiday workshops

Is your child interested in coding and robotics but doesn’t know where to start? Perhaps they've tried some block coding programs (eg, Scratch) and are ready to combine this with some hands-on robotics activities. Our Beginner-bots* program is just for them!

Students will use a LEGO® EV3 robot to learn the basics of block coding, and program it to complete a series of fun challenges. By the end of the program, they will have the confidence and skills to explore other popular coding programs available online or at school.

Over the half-day workshop, our budding robotics engineers will:

🎰 Start using block coding to help their robot navigate through a maze

🐰 Add sound to their robot and learn about trouble-shooting

💻 Incorporate an ultra-sonic sensor and begin experimenting with coding loops

🤖 Attach a mechanical arm so their robot can pick up objects

There will be plenty of time for open-ended exploration and creativity, so your child can work at their own pace with support from our expert educators. Spaces are limited, so don’t miss this opportunity to ignite your child’s passion for coding and robotics!

*This workshop is a condensed version of our popular Term 1 STEM Club program (Build Your Own Robo-pet), which was also offered as our SMART Squad program (Windale Library Term 1 and Toronto Library Term 2). If your child has completed any of these previous programs, this half-day beginner-bots program is not suitable for them.
