Behind The Lens: Wildlife, Conservation & Creative Portraits with Brett Lobwein
We have an incredible evening planned!
Bird photography is about more than getting a bird in frame.
The strongest images come from understanding behaviour, anticipating movement, reading light and knowing when to wait.
Join award-winning wildlife photographer and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Brett Lobwein for a unique evening focused specifically on bird photography, from controlled portraits through to fast-moving birds in flight.
Brett has photographed wildlife across some of the world’s most extraordinary environments, from whales and sharks to polar bears, penguins and marine life. His work has been published internationally and featured through programs including the BBC’s Deadly 60.
For this special Georges Cameras experience, Brett will bring that same approach to photographing birds, breaking down how he works with behaviour, timing, composition, lighting and autofocus to create images that feel deliberate rather than accidental.
Throughout the evening, attendees will work with three incredible birds:
Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo
Red-tailed Black Cockatoo
Macaw

Brett is a Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, Ambassador for Isotta Underwater Housings, member of The Explorers Club and Ocean Artists Society, with his work published internationally.
A Unique Wildlife Photography Experience
Throughout the evening, attendees will explore three different approaches to bird photography.
Bird Portraits
Learn how Brett approaches controlled bird portraiture, from choosing angles and backgrounds to managing light, composition and subject behaviour.
You’ll see how small decisions around framing, head position, eye contact and light can completely change the final image.
Conservation Portraits
Bird photography can also tell a bigger story.
Working alongside animal keepers, Brett will demonstrate how to create environmental and conservation-focused portraits that combine the bird, the people who care for it and the wider story behind the image.
Birds in Flight
This is where timing, anticipation and camera performance really matter.
Brett will demonstrate how he approaches birds in flight, including autofocus setup, shutter speed, tracking, movement and predicting where the bird is going rather than simply reacting once it has moved.
Attendees will then have the opportunity to put those ideas into practice.
