Event description

Welcoming Clubs invites leaders, members and volunteers at community and sport clubs in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs to take part in an Active Inclusion Workshop this September.

Our 90-minute interactive workshop is designed to educate and empower participants with a deeper understanding of their personal experiences so they can positively impact how others experience inclusion and belonging in community and sport clubs.

Our activities will explore ideas of welcome, privilege, bias and exclusion, and provide participants with evidence-based strategies and resources that enhance access and participation while reducing the impact of barriers to meaningful involvement.

Our workshop will cover:

  • Inclusive practices that engage diverse and multicultural communities including First Nations peoples

  • Inclusive coaching techniques that enable coaches to adapt their approach to support individuals of all abilities

  • Introduction to upstander training which equips community organisations to prevent and address discrimination and racism
