Benaraby Repair Help Desk
Description
Got something that needs fixing but not sure where to start?
The Benaraby Repair Help Desk is a free community initiative where local volunteers share practical advice to help you understand how everyday items might be repaired instead of thrown away.
Bring along clothing, toys, small household items or other belongings that need a little attention, and sit down with someone who can help you.
FAQs
- What items can be repaired at the Help Desk?
clothing
manchester
bikes
jewellery
tools
toys
mechanical items
garden equipment
small furniture
bric a brac
... and more!
- Do I need to book?
Bookings are preferred to help us work out in advance if your item is fixable, and make sure we have the right fixer available.
When you book, you’ll be asked a little bit of information about your broken item to let us know what’s coming along.
Booking isn’t essential, and you’re more than welcome to just turn up on the day. Please note that if things are busy, booked items will be prioritised over walk ins.
- Do you repair electrical items?
No. Unfortunately in Queensland, we cannot legally repair mains powered electrical equipment without the help of a licensed electrician.
We can:
Inspect visually
Clean externally
Diagnose mechanically (e.g. jammed switch)
Replace non-electrical components (e.g. sewing machine belt).
We cannot conduct any electrical work.
