Event description

Foxes can be responsible for 4-30% of lamb losses. And threaten many native species. Join this event to learn about the best control methods for your property and find out about fox control in Sandy Point and along the coast line to help protect hooded plover chicks.

Attendees to this event will have the opportunity to borrow camera traps from South Gippsland Landcare that can be used during a control program or to help you understand your pest animals.

At this event Aaron Stephens from Bass Coast Landcare Invasive Species team will cover

  • All available fox control methods

  • How to integrate methods for the most successful control

  • What qualifications are required

Foxes are considered to be a threat to at least 14 species of birds, 48 mammals, 12 reptiles and 2 amphibians.

One of these birds is the Hooded Plover. Fox control is currently being undertaken in Sandy Point and along the Bass and Bunurong coast. Aaron will also talk about this fox control program.

Kasun Ekanayake from Birdlife Australia will talk Hooded plovers and how fox control along with other methods have been implemented to try and increase the success of their breeding along the coast. Come along to learn how you could get involved.

Lunch and refreshments included. Please email kirby@sgln.net.au if you have questions or dietary requirements.

This project is supported by the Victorian Government through the Partnerships against Pests program
