Between the Lines
Event description
Join us for an engaging and interactive workshop designed to generate conversations around anti-racism. Through the online game, Between the Lines, participants will experience the frustration, disappointment, and continued cycle of everyday racism, prompting reflection on their own experiences.
What to expect:
This workshop is designed to foster meaningful dialogue and raise awareness of racism.
Please note basic computer literacy is required.
This workshop will be offered in two separate sessions. Each session runs for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Session 1: 1:00pm-2:15pm
Session 2: 2:45pm-4:00pm
You’ll be able to select your preferred session at the point of registration.
Between the Lines was funded by the Anti-Racism Hallmark Research Initiative. It is a result of a collaboration between researchers and academics from the University of Melbourne, Swinburne University, the University of Regina (Canada), with contributions from game designer Nick Loki and artist Marco Ryan.

Your Moderator
Dr Wajeehah Aayeshah is a Lecturer in Curriculum Design (Arts Teaching Innovation) at the University of Melbourne, Australia. An academic geek, Wajeehah investigates and develops meaningful learning and teaching experiences. Her current project 'kindness in higher education' explores kind academic practices. She also collaborates on creatives narratives with artists and game designers.

This project was produced in collaboration with the 2025 Being Human Festival. Founded in the UK as the only national festival of the humanities, Being Human is now a global celebration dedicated to demonstrating the breadth, diversity and vitality of the humanities.
