Event description

A song-circle style workshop for participants to explore tools for generating the seeds of new songs, and to practice sharing works-in progress, with musicians Stella Anning and Michael J Brady.

As part of their ‘Between The Lines’ tour, musicians Stella Anning and Michael J Brady, will be running a workshop that explores their processes as songwriters. Both Anning and Brady’s craft as songwriters is informed by an eclectic musical background in rock, jazz, art music, and instrumental composition. This workshop will provide a space to explore what songwriting can look like between artistic lines.

This workshop will explore prompt-based techniques for generating material for new songs. Anning and Brady will share their approaches to developing these initial seeds into full songs. In the song-circle format, participants will share their creations and perspectives with one another.

This workshop is open to any skill level, however it is recommended that you have some experience playing an instrument.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments, and any ‘work-in-progress’ songs/compositions.

There will be limited backline available including vocal microphones, guitar amp, bass amp and PA.

All participants in this workshop will receive a $15 ticket code to Stella and Michael's performance 'Between the Lines' at the Moonah Arts Centre, Friday 30 May 7pm. This will be emailed to you once you have purchased your workshop ticket. If you need assistance with this, please email hkvermeulen@gcc.tas.gov.au
