Beyond the Diagnosis
Event description
“Beyond the Diagnosis”
with Dawn from Buddy Zone
Step into the world of neurodivergent children with Dawn from Buddy Zone as she shares her personal journey and the powerful insights she’s gained along the way.
In this heartfelt and practical talk, Dawn unpacks what it really means to be neurodiverse – going beyond the diagnosis to explore the unique ways autistic and ADHD minds experience the world. You’ll hear real-life stories, discover why certain behaviours make perfect sense when we understand the brain behind them, and learn how anxiety, sensory sensitivities, routines, and even things like stimming or special interests all play a role in helping neurodivergent kids feel safe and seen.
Dawn brings warmth, honesty, and clarity to often-misunderstood topics – from the challenges of getting a diagnosis (especially for girls), to struggles with friendships, communication, and everyday tasks. Most importantly, she offers practical tools and a fresh perspective on how we can create environments that support regulation, connection, and confidence.
Whether you’re a parent, teacher, support worker or simply curious, this is your chance to see the world through a different but incredible lens – one filled with strength, insight and possibility.
