FAQs
- What is kīrtan?
Kīrtan is a form of devotional singing where mantras are sung together, often in a call-and-response style. You don’t need to know the words or be able to sing - you’re welcome simply to listen and receive.
- Do I need experience with mantra, yoga or Hindu traditions?
Not at all. Our gatherings are open to everyone, whether this is your first kīrtan or part of an established spiritual practice.
- Do I have to sing?
No. You are welcome to sing, listen, meditate, move, or simply sit quietly and experience the evening in your own way.
- Can I arrive late or leave early?
Ideally, arrive before the part of the evening you have booked begins so we can maintain the atmosphere of the gathering. If you need to leave early, you can do so quietly.
- Where do I sit?
Our kīrtans are generally seated on the floor, with chairs available for anyone who needs one.
- How do I book the Ayurvedic meal?
If you would like to share the meal with us, please add your meal when purchasing your ticket so we can prepare enough food for everyone.
- Is the meal vegetarian?
Yes. Our Ayurvedic meals are vegetarian and lovingly prepared with seasonal ingredients. You could also add a note here about vegan/gluten-free options depending on what you normally offer.
- Can I bring my children?
Yes, children are warmly welcome at our gatherings. We simply ask that parents and carers support their children in respecting the sacred and peaceful nature of the space, particularly during meditation, storytelling, pūjā, and quieter moments of the evening.
