BioBlitz - Currie Park Lowland Rainforest

Lismore City Council and Richmond Riverkeeper are hosting a Bioblitz event at Currie Park, North Lismore as part of the Richmond Riverfest’s Richmond Catchment Bioblitz, and we’d like to invite you to join in the fun.

We’re inviting you to help identify and record the diversity of life which calls this regenerating Lowland Subtropical Rainforest remnant home. 

Date: Friday 9th October 2026

Time: 10am-1pm

Location: Currie Park reserve, 91 Winterton Parade North Lismore

Meet: In front of Lismore Turf club

Bring: PPE suitable for a day in the scrub, tools of the trade- binocs, hand lens, cameras, mobile device with iNaturalist app loaded & logged in, BYO lunch

Event plan:

• 10am- Welcome to Country, intro, instructions, discussion, morning tea available

• 11am- Bioblitz!

  • Experts paired with iNaturalist app-savvy people & small groups of public attendees

• 1pm- sign off, shared BYO lunch

The event will be postponed in the case of wet weather.

This event is presented by Lismore City Council, as a part of the Rainforest to River Project.

The ‘Rainforest to River: Restoring Lismore’s riverbanks’ project will enhance the condition, extent, and connectivity of 42 hectares of critically endangered, EPBC-listed, Lowland Rainforest of Subtropical Australia Threatened Ecological Community. Centred on biodiversity hotspots in Lismore, the project will maximise benefits for native species and improve site resilience to major threats including flooding, weed invasion and pollution through Culturally and scientifically-informed ecological restoration.
