Bach in the Dark - Cello and Double Bass at St. James Church Crypt - SOLD OUT!
Event description
THIS CONCERT IS NOW SOLD OUT!
Bach in the Dark is back in the crypt of St James!
So many of you have been patiently waiting – and now Rachel and her musical friend, the wonderful bassist, Ben Ward, are back in the crypt for two nights only!
The magical space of St James crypt will be filled with the sounds of two low instruments – imagine the difference between single and double cream…. It’s a fabulous combination! Rachel and Ben were going to play live in 2020, and then COVID happened – and she thought it was only fitting that her first concert back featured the artist she’d hoped to play with all those years ago!
The program will include some Bach (of course!), some Bach-inspired bluegrass (I kid you not!), a re-working of Bach's 'Crab' canon by M.B. Sibson, music by two of Bach's sons, a moment of musical stillness by Schnittke, as well as a few other musical surprises. It'll be a night to make you smile, sigh with pleasure and tap your toes - all at different times!
The crypt will be open at 6.30pm, and a glass of wine (or non-alchohlic equivalent) will be offered to every patron. Ticket sales will STOP at 2pm on the day of the concert, and if there are any tickets available, they will be available at the doors of the crypt as you arrive.
