#

Guy Morgan

Guy Morgan’s inaugural Canberra exhibition introduces his ‘Evaporation’ series, exploring the transient nature of creativity from conception to reception. The collection delves into the philosophical query, ‘Aren’t we all a series of thoughts?’, inviting viewers to ponder the essence of existence. Additionally, his 'Nebula' series invites meditation through celestial dialogue. Accompanying these are his ArtScreen 2023 award-winning video and original illustrations from his thought-provoking book, ‘The Empire sells out’, proposing alternative societal paradigms.

HARD YAKKA

UK Frederick

HARD YAKKA delves into the cultural significance of the flannel shirt, a beloved garment transcending social divides from artists to farmers and labourers.

Long before the rise of hi-vis uniforms, the flannel shirt symbolised rural life, manual work in trades, life outdoors and working-class identity. Delving into the intersection of art and labour, Frederick draws on photographic practices, ceramics and pattern to investigate the sensory qualities of disembodied clothing and the memories they invoke.

Layered Land: Time, Fragility, Repair

Barbara Dawson

The landscape, sea, coast, and open spaces can be powerful, emotive places of exploration, reminiscence and memories.

Barbara Dawson’s ‘Layered Land’ series of drawings and textiles investigates the way a place is remembered. In the mind’s reinterpreting details are altered, omitted, and become imbued with one’s own emotional outlook.

𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 Friday 22 March - Sunday 14 April
