Event description

Opening Thursday 17 April, 6 – 8 pm

This is a free event – register your interest via the ticket link!

Gallery 1 | Dreamworlds

Isabelle Mackay-Sim & Gemma Brown

Through processes of experimentation, pondering, and play, Gemma Brown and Isabelle Mackay-Sim generate imagined worlds that invite a relationship with the viewer. The artists lean into the idea of ceramic world-building, creating abstract sculptural groupings that tread the line between sculpture and diorama.

Gallery 2 | The Forest Passage

Alex Flannery

Recently, while bushwalking, Flannery startled a feral pig with her litter of piglets. The family hurried across a creek, along an animal trail, and into the wooded, scrubby hills. Flannery followed them and found a maze of animal pathways winding through the thick bush. This was the Forest Passage — a place of shelter but also of mystery, boundless in subtle variations and teeming with furtive wildlife. In the exhibition The Forest Passage, Flannery uses digital and film cameras, often close to ground level, to examine this hidden world.

Gallery 3 | Pizza Box Studio

Karl Lorenz

With a pizza box, just four colours and local bushwalks, Karl Lorenz has created Pizza Box Studio, his debut exhibition at M16 Artspace. Embracing constraints, Karl transforms humble materials into gallery-ready art. These small-scale, handcrafted landscapes invite viewers to experience both the personal and the infinite.

Exhibition runs from Friday 18 April to Sunday 11 May 2025.

Gallery opening times: Wednesday to Sunday, 12 - 5pm.

M16 Artspace operates on the lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. We honour and pay our respects to their traditional custodians. We acknowledge this land always was and always will be the country of Australia’s First Nations People. Sovereignty was never ceded.
