Bonsai by 4 Pines is a contemporary Japanese Izakaya bar with inspired finishes resembling the loved touch points of Shinjuku’s Golden Gai alleys, bars and towering skyline.
Joji Shikama, Executive chef of 4 Pines Brewing Co, has used his years of experience and culture to create an Izakaya style menu, with classic Japanese techniques and dishes intended to be shared between mates over a fresh beer pouring from the brewery upstairs or a sake bottle.
Many guests enjoy dinner before or during the show. Table service is offered for drinks throughout the night.

Aussie stand-up Billy D'Arcyis here to melt the paint off the walls. With the confidence and hair of a more successful comedian, he's here for the belt but it's also not a competition. In recent years he has been a regular on triple j while also opening for Trevor Wallace and Andrew Schulz, don't miss Australian comedy's next big thing. 'Boasts a slick, well practiced delivery and he writes with an easy wit.' Chortle (UK)

Alex Choi was born in Manchester, took a detour through New Zealand and Canada, and somehow ended up in Newtown. He's been working the Sydney circuit long enough that the accent no longer throws people off — though it still gets a reaction. His comedy runs on the friction between British pub culture and Australian life — material that only lands the way it does because he's actually lived both. Years of being the outsider in every room gave him a self-awareness that turns out to be pretty useful on stage. He also hosted "Brits and Giggles" at the Sydney Fringe Festival, championing up-and-coming British comics and proving he cares about the craft as much as the laughs. Now a regular MC and performer with Kookaburra's Comedy, catch him live, or follow along on Instagram.

Hughie Phillips is a comedian and radio personaility know for sharp oberservations and wit. He's performed across the UK, Australia and Europe. In 2024 he won the Sydney Stand-Up Champioships.
