Book Launch: Unspeakable
Description
Climate, resilience and community action with Richard Hil and Jean Renouf
Join us for an engaging evening exploring one of the defining challenges of our time: how communities can respond to a changing climate with resilience, connection and practical action.
Climate change is no longer a future possibility. Its impacts are already being felt in our communities, environments and daily lives. This special event will feature Prof. Richard Hil and Dr Jean Renouf in conversation about the realities of climate disruption, the challenges it presents for Australia, and the opportunities for individuals and communities to strengthen resilience and prepare for the future.
Drawing on the themes of Unspeakable: Facing Up to the Climate Catastrophe and Its Consequences for Australia, the discussion will explore why it can be difficult to confront the scale of the climate crisis, while also highlighting tangible and achievable actions that people can take today to build stronger, more connected and adaptable communities.
Unspeakable has been called "a must read" by former Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Greg Mullins AO and "brave, necessary, and beautifully human" by Wendy Brown, President of Main Arm Disaster Recovery.
Guests are invited to arrive from 5:00pm if they wish to order food at the Club, with the formal conversation facilitated by Cate Coorey, will commence at 6:00pm, followed by an opportunity for audience questions and discussion.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees will have the chance to meet Richard Hil and Jean Renouf during a book signing session. Copies of Unspeakable will be available for purchase on the night.
Whether you are deeply engaged in climate action, interested in community resilience, or simply curious about how we can navigate the challenges ahead together, this event offers an opportunity to learn, reflect and connect with others committed to building a stronger future.
