Description

Join us on Thursday 5 November (6:30pm) for a special evening at Books@Stones with author Eileen O'Hely and illustrator Nico O'Sullivan discussing their latest graphic novel, 50 Ways to Die in the Ocean along with science communicator, Peter Frankland.

The much-anticipated follow-up to 50 Ways to Die in Space!

The ocean. Deep. Wet. And incredibly dangerous. Two thirds of our planet is covered in water, but is it really safe to swim in it, float on it, or even look at it?

From sharks to stonefish, tsunamis to submarines, learn about what really lies beneath the waves, and why you should rethink your next beach holiday!

Watch the book trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stTMu4gm694

50 Ways to Die in the Ocean will be released 13 October 2026 and is available for pre-order now.

Genre: Graphic Novel, recommended for primary and middle school

Its sequel, 50 Ways to Die in the Ocean is available for pre-order now.

Nico O’Sullivan is an emerging illustrator with a love for fun characters and wonderful worlds. His childhood and teenage years were filled with a passion for art and illustration, and he is currently studying a Bachelor of Game Design, majoring in Art Direction. Nico is excited to bring his next graphic novel to life, sparking curiosity and adventure in young readers.

Peter Frankland is a science communicator specialising in astronomy. He has previously worked as a tour guide in Far North Queensland introducing tourists to the geology, fauna and flora of the region. His hobbies include growing carnivorous plants, reading fantasy novels and chasing solar eclipses. This may be self-evident, but Peter feels it's important to point out that he’s a geek.
