Join us on Tuesday 6 October, 6:30pm for a special in-conversation event with Katherine Owens in-conversation with Di Taylor discussing Extraordinary Stories.

Extraordinary Stories shows that everyone - yes, everyone, has a story powerful enough to feature in a published book. Through 17 real-life adventures, readers meet people whose lives are shocking, heart-warming, inspiring, and everything in between. These stories prove you don’t need to be rich or famous to live a meaningful, successful life.

As you jump between different times, places, and perspectives, you’ll discover how much we can learn from the people around us. The book encourages stronger connections, honest conversations, and a deeper sense of kindness and empathy, because the more we understand each other, the better we all become.

Katherine Owens is a debut author based in Brisbane, Australia. Her book Extraordinary Stories features 17 short stories based on interviews with everyday people who have overcome challenges and achieved extraordinary things. It explores tough topics in an age-appropriate way, encourages empathy and gratitude, and reminds young readers that hope, resilience, connection and feelings of belonging can be found all around them. Katherine is passionate about writing books and speaking with young people about building strong support networks and finding the people and places where they truly belong. She lives with her husband, two sons, and two dogs, Freddy and Betty.

Di Taylor is an author of children’s books and a former primary school teacher and a teacher-librarian. Di has a passion for historical fiction and her debut novel for young adult readers, Anna’s War (Riveted Press), is set in German-occupied southern Netherlands during the last eighteen months of World War II. It is based on the true wartime childhood experiences of three children, two of whom are her elderly parents-in-law. Di has also written many popular travel blogs recording her long distance walks in the UK and Europe, including a four-month 2000km trek from Land’s End to John O’Groats, during which Di wore out six pairs of socks!
