Event description

Join us at Books@Stones on Thursday 6 November for the launch of Chris McMahon's latest fantasy novel, Tower of the Mountain King: The Dark Sidhe (Book Two in the Ennistur Tales series).

Prince Lathel must harness an ancient magic to defeat a dark immortal and save his people from destruction...

Prince Lathel returns from the Sidhe Realm with the Wildness, an artefact of ancient magic. The western clans gather at the Tower of the Mountain King to face the hordes of King Curros and the dark immortal Golsheth. Lathel must contain the vast mind of the Wildness long enough to harness its power, and stop Golsheth before he destroys not only the West, but the last enclaves of the Sidhe.

As if completing a journey through the forbidden Sidhe Realm was not enough, now he must fight to keep his sanity as the enigmatic whirlwind of the Wildness threatens to turn him into its mindless puppet. Lathel must face Golsheth in a magical contest the like of which Eire has not seen since the old gods walked its hills and forests. But can he contain the vast mind of the Wildness long enough to harness its power?

Chris McMahon is a novelist and short story writer based in Brisbane, writing everything from heroic fantasy and contemporary fantasy to hard Sci-Fi. The heroic journey is central to his fantasy fiction, while his SF is driven more by the exploration of scientific possibilities. His other novels include Tower of the Mountain King: The Wildness, (Ennistur Tales Book One), Warriors of the Blessed Realms, which blends contemporary fantasy and fantasy with elements of SF and horror; the hard Sci-Fi, The Tau Ceti Diversion and his three-book heroic fantasy series, The Jakirian Cycle. He has been twice shortlisted for the Aurealis Awards, and has also won the One Book, Many Brisbanes competition twice.
